Updated Blog for 2025
Coffee at Fleet Street Press, London with Giacomo Brunelli
Sitting in ‘Fleet Street Press’ coffee shop, London with Giacomo Brunelli discussing publishing of books, printing photographs and his general approach to photography, it got me thinking about my own website, blog and printed material. More importantly, the things I need to change if I want my work to be more engaging and enjoyed further afield than my limited followers on Facebook and Instagram.
Conscious that I’ve been more than a little remiss, not only with my blog, but the website in general, I’m going to make much more of an effort in 2025 to keep it current, entertaining and informative as I have a lot of work to share.
Here are a few things I intend to do differently this year:
Print more of my work - I’d like to create hard copies and permanent records of my popular images in the form of prints and published books in a hope to create more meaningful record of my adventures and travels that can be enjoyed by more people without the need to go online.
Write shorter but more regular blog articles. For example, a monthly update of what I’ve been up to and where I’ve been or experiences I’d like to share. Last year I spent a lot of time travelling and took thousands of photos. Many of these pictures have never been seen. I’ve got too many images to post on social media and I’ve been too lazy to update and get creative with my website or printed publishing.
Shoot more film - I’ve realised lately just how much I really enjoy the simplicity of shooting film and the character and charm that it has to offer. It doesn’t matter if I use colour or black and white film, I love the tangible outcome and the feeling that ensues when I get to see my images for the first time, which is not just after I’ve taken the shot.
I’m going to change the format of the blog, making it easier to navigate and digest. I’ll keep my old articles available, but new stuff easier to digest.
Turning projects into books - This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now. The projects section will be an online gallery and a digital exhibition page and I will create books which I’ll make available for sale with more detail and more pictures to be enjoyed.
I’m going to tidy up my web pages and categories making content easier to navigate. I’ll use links to new galleries or blog articles rather than just dumping all my images on Social Media.
